Karavel Shoes was founded in 1937 by two close friends, Bob Karotkin and Irving Ravel (Kar+avel = Karavel). We've been around for 87 years as a family-owned, local Austin business. In the beginning, Karavel was the first Buster Brown children's shoe store in Austin, located on Congress Avenue between the State and Paramount Theaters.
